So proud of the girls today, they were awesome! Sienna started the scoring off with a brilliant solo effort ghosting past at least half their team before tucking the ball away off the post! I think we were still celebrating though as Penn & Tyler's Green immediately got one back, taking the scores level again.
After this we settled down and started to play some of the best football we've played this season. All the girls were confident on the ball and took their time to find a pass to a team mate. The opposition had one outstanding player but our midfield and defence were giving her no time on the ball, making it a really difficult day for her. Neve, Maddie, Sophia, Dolcie and Frances did a great job at the back limiting them to a few long range efforts for the rest of the game that Rose dealt with brilliantly.
Our midfield and forward line were combining superbly with Amalia and Abigail holding the ball up well and our midfield getting up quickly to support them. Pitch 7 is a huge pitch but the girls kept going and it was rare that Wayne or I had to remind them to track back.
Amalia was unlucky to have a goal ruled out for offside, it was close but probably the right decision.
In the second half the girls continued to boss the game and started to grow in confidence. Sienna grabbed another great goal, but this time we kept the pressure on and went hunting for more.
When we were attacking we had lots of players forward and Evie finished with a great shot when the ball fell to her in the box. Frances finished up the scoring with a well taken goal with her left foot after a brilliant solo run through the middle of the park.
We could easily have had a few more with their keeper making some great saves.
Despite excellent performances from everyone POM could only go to one player. Sienna had her best ever game in a Sandhurst shirt, running tirelessly up and down the pitch, working hard to win the ball back and being a constant threat going forward.
MIM went to Frances for channelling her inner Messi, with a brilliant run and finish to score the last goal of the game.
This performance was such a step up from last week's, a real team performance. The girls worked hard for each other, controlled the game well and played some unbelievable passes to unlock their defence. They were talking to each other on the pitch and everyone put a real shift in.
As a coach it is great to see them developing their understanding of the game and seeing their progress week to week. You could tell all the girls were loving it out there and they are really growing in confidence.
Great work girls, you made me a super proud coach!!
