Total Domination!

A real dominating performance by the Wolves this week. For the first 15 minutes we were absolutely unstoppable and Slough could not deal with us. Maddie got her goal fest underway with a world class header from a corner, only 4 minutes in. This was our first ever headed goal and it was no surprise that it was Maddie that tucked it away (in the top corner no less) Sienna should also take a big chunk of credit for a fantastically delivered corner! Less than 10 minutes later Maddie scored again getting on the end of great through ball from Millie and calmly slotting it past the keeper. Slough have both a strong defence and a great keeper, but they were getting nowhere near us in this first period, the girls were passing the ball around brilliantly and were first to every loose ball. Izzy was causing their left back loads of problems showcasing the range of skills and tricks that she has and being really strong on the ball. With only twelve minutes on the clock Maddie completed her hattrick, blasting home from another great through ball, this time from Abigail.
Frances, Sienna and Jasmine were completely bossing the centre of midfield and on the very rare occasion that Slough broke Sophia, Abigail, Neve and Dolcie tidied up without fuss and quickly started us on another attack. Much like Izzy; Millie was dominating the left wing playing some great balls into some dangerous areas that Slough really struggled to deal with.
After going 3-0 up, Slough rallied a little and with everyone sensing an opportunity we stopped moving the ball as well and made it a little more comfortable for them as a result.
In the second-half Slough were a little less adventurous and seemed content to keep the score down, we still had a load of chances though, their keeper making some great saves. On 41 minutes Maddie got her fourth from another great ball from Millie.
That being said despite dominating possession Slough were still dangerous on the break, but our defence held firm, including mid-way through the second half when Rose was quick off her line, taking the ball around an attacker, near the halfway line, and then calmly playing it up the pitch to Millie.
As in previous weeks there were so many great performances across the team, choosing a POM was hard. Maddie was deadly upfront, Izzy dazzled on the wing and Sienna bossed the centre of the park. The award however went to Sophia who was so calm and assured at the back, snuffing out ever hint of danger and hardly misplacing a pass all game.
MIM deservedly went to Izzy who's tricks had their excellent defender bamboozled and at one point in the game beat her once, turned beat her again and then once more for good measure!
The week on week improvement I am seeing from all the girls brings us both great pleasure. Today they played with grit, determination and fair play. The passing was some of the best I have seen and the girls all played together as a team, they were talking to each other, held their shape and got their heads up when they were in possession. They make me and Wayne super proud coaches. We are having to issue less and less instructions from the side lines as everyone is really starting to understand their role.
No match report would be complete without mentioning the yellow card incident for Wayne's disagreement with the ref. They made up after the game though so hopefully it won't get reported :)
Well done girls, I'm running out for superlatives for the match report!
